My photography takes me in all directions. Here, I photographed a local event, the Island Party, for our local "aging in place" organization known as Lake Barcroft Village.
We are so fortunate to live in a community made up of terrific people who truly care about one another. Over a year ago, a group of dedicated residents came up with the plans to create Lake Barcroft Village, an organization that supports our older residents who wish to continue living in the community as they age instead of moving to a separate retirement community or similar institution. The Village is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of an board of directors elected by the membership, and staffed by volunteers. The Village offers a variety of programs and services to members including classes, transportation, grocery shopping, light household maintenance, cultural and social programs.
As a volunteer, I write a monthly story about the Village for the Lake Barcroft News, and provide photographic coverage of Village events. Our latest event, the Island Party, was a huge success, and my photographs of that event follow.
Hosted in the beautiful lakeside home of neighbors Dennis and Susan, decorated in island themes, we shared great food, great camaraderie, and even music and dancing, making for a delightful evening for all.

I was asked to do a group shot of everyone at the party, representing members and volunteers of Lake Barcroft Village. Here, President Carl Neuberg gathers folks together.

Here is the final shot. Wondering how I got down there? No, I didn't Photoshop myself in. I set up the camera, exposure, composition, and Carole sacrificed her being in the photo to take this great shot of the group.

The evening was topped off with piano music played by Ron Martinson. Ron is a great entertainer, and together with wife Wanda, in the yellow lei, party attendees enjoyed a variety of songs from old standards to the country love song "I Wish I Was a Teddy Bear."
