Kayaking for Wildlife, Lake Barcroft

Out on the Lake looking for wildlife, I got my wish. Here are the images captured on a breezy, unusually pleasant June morning, following some very unpleasant hot days.

Finally, I was able to capture some images of a bald eagle, near the point at the Crawford's home.

The local paper had me cover the festivities at the Falls Church Memorial Day celebration and I've put my best shots in an album on Flickr at this link: Falls Church Memorial Day 2015.

Here are some of the photos from that album:

Real Estate Photography: A New Challenge

I've been doing a lot of real estate work over the last year and today, photographed an older large California contemporary for a client in Alexandria. The home is pictured above, but there was no electricity (thus no lights) in the house for the shoot! The owner lived next door and came by after the agent called to tell him I was there ready to shoot. I think Dominion had not transferred the account when they should have.

In any case, I said I would take on the challenge to see if I could still get good photos with no lights in any room. Fortunately, there were windows all over, and I think that made the difference.

I really liked this house in the trees.

I really enjoy photographing modern DC condos. Here's a link to a set of photos I just shot for an agent selling this condo in DC for $875,000.

Working in Modified Monochrome: Children

I had an assignment for a recent photo shoot of two sisters. I originally did these and others in color for the client, but on reviewing them, I worked on a technique I call "modified monochrome." Here are some samples of this technique. Share with your friends who may like my unique style for their children's portraits.

Black and White Snow and Ice

I know... we're tired of the snow and cold, but today's dreary weather made me think of some photos I had taken just a few weeks ago and never shared.

If you remember, last year the frozen lake was beautiful and smooth as glass. Example:

This year, because of the multiple snows and melts, the lake, although frozen, didn't have that gorgeous shimmer of solid ice. Nevertheless, I did shoot a few images that captured the lake with all that snow on top of the ice. Here are a few of my favorites, below.
