Goodbye Autumn Leaves

Out for a walk Saturday afternoon,  camera in hand. Autumn leaves are coming to an end. Here are my last photos of the wonderful colors of the season at our beautiful lake.

I will have frame-able prints of these and other photos of the Lake and its wildlife available for purchase at the Lake Barcroft Art League Holiday Show and Sale coming up on December 7.

On a musical note, Carole and I have been practicing the tune "Autumn Leaves" together with Carole on vocals and guitar and me on electric bass. The song has been performed by numerous performers over the years. We like the Eric Clapton version, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQlFOX0YKlQ

The lyrics are very moving:

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold.
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

The song was based on a French version by Jacques Prevert and strangly enough, the English lyrics, above, by Johnny Mercer,  are not a translation but a rewrite.
